Thought of the Day

I don't believe in morality, but I believe in ethical conduct as set out by His Holiness the Dalai Lama: "Ethical conduct = a way of behaving that respects others’ right to be happy".

The Triumph of a Heart

You are all aware of my passion for Ms Björk. I admire her for being a devoted artist (perfectionist and hard-worker), gifted with a modulating soft voice, an original and quirky star, her productions always extremely ironic, sometimes even disturbing but undoubtedly funny. Her last video—Triumph of a Heart—mirrors all the qualities I have used to portray her in one sentence. The video is directed by long time Björk collaborator Spike Jonze and was shot on location in Iceland. A cat, a woman and their relationship is the core of the video, and it is as much disturbing as amusing—especially if, like me, you hate cats*. And their story is escorted by a song hard to directly correlate to the video, except for its obvious love theme. But there is more than love in that song. The lyrics, in line with its album Medulla, Anatomy of a Brain, can be defined *tactile*, in the sense that everything is perceived through her body parts and internal organs. The triumph of love assumes thus both a figurative and scientific connotation, as source of love but also, more importantly, of life. Here you can find all the details about the making of the video.

*Before being attacked by cat-lovers, I do not dislike them but I do not like them either. I am more a dog girl than a kitty girls.
