Thought of the Day

I don't believe in morality, but I believe in ethical conduct as set out by His Holiness the Dalai Lama: "Ethical conduct = a way of behaving that respects others’ right to be happy".

Meditation through Elimination...

...in the tradition of the Upanishads and the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali:

clear the inner space

breath deeply

start becoming aware of the space around you and acknowledge the difference between yourself and the phenomenal world

then shift your attention to your senses through which you experience the sounds and noises around you, the contact with the floor and the air entering your nostrils and acknowledge the difference between yourself and your senses. you are not your senses

become aware of your body, your skin, your bones, your muscles and internal organs. observe the subtle movements of your body and acknowledge that you are not your body

observe your mind and its thoughts which come and go as clouds in the sky. observe them as an external viewer and label them as thoughts

then connect with your intellect and let it go as you are not your intellect

finally, connect with your self - the essence of your being which resides deep inside you and is eternal, undisturbed and divine. you are pure self, pure consciousness, pure organic being. you are safe.
