Thought of the Day

I don't believe in morality, but I believe in ethical conduct as set out by His Holiness the Dalai Lama: "Ethical conduct = a way of behaving that respects others’ right to be happy".

Mummy & Me

Someone may find the like-mother-like-daughter trend initiated by Kate Holmes too soppy and, at times, pathetic. To me, so long as it doesn't overstep the mark {I would never put my baby daughter in heels}, it can look rather cute. It exudes a symmetric, and therefore pleasant, visual effect. Besides, with the due adaptations {coordinated but not identical!}, it is a playful way to connect with your progeny: it helps the mother feel young and groovy and give the girl, who naturally tends to identify herself with her mother, a sense of belonging. I remember when my parents bought matching sport jackets for themselves and left me out. I was so upset they had to take a photo of me in tears wearing my mum's jacket. I will have to dig out that photo next time I fly back home.

I don't like the idea of matching outfits for mother and daughter, but it's nice to have something in common in our outfits (it can be a colour or an item).

I appreciate it wouldn't work for everybody...

I also like the idea of an overarching detail such as a bow, like in the photos above.
